Here are some shots of a great hike to Tom, Dick, & Harry mountain above Mirror Lake near Government Camp, Oregon. (about 50 mile from Portland) It was supposed to rain today and the weather gods were being extremely kind. It actually turned out being perfect hiking weather. Rainier, Hood, & Jefferson came out to play and I joked that it has to be a sign of good fortune so close to my birthday.
So completely switching gears, I just stated reading a Steinbeck book that I can't put down (thanks Claire!) and this quote spoke to me. "A journey is a person in and of itself; no two are alike. And all plans, safeguards, policing and coercion are fruitless. We find after years of struggle that we do not take a trip; a trip takes us. Only when this is recognized can the blown-in-the-glass bum relax and go along with it." Wise words from an amazing man. I think I'll try and steer by that for the next year of my life. I like it already ... I am just here for the ride.
