I was in NYC this month and decided to visit the
High Line green space. I read about the High Line in the New York Time sometime this year and found the idea of an elevated green space in a city a novel idea. If you are unfamiliar with it, the High Line is an elevated 1.5 mile rail structure running on Manhattan's west side. The tracks were originally used to transport meat and agriculture in and around the meat packing district. It has since been converted into a lush green space with a ton of architectural touches that are pleasing to all your senses.
Imagine walking around in a english garden, with some northern european architectural styling elevated forty feet in the air in Manhattan and that is what the High Line is like. Grab a book, find a shady bench and I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
If you look in the lower right (in the photo above) you'll see the old railroad. Amazing.
