Portland, Oregon

Here I am in the Pacific North West (Portland, Oregon) to be exact at Powell's BookStore sipping on my coffee looking out on 10th street. Nick called me a trailblazer -- I thought that was funny! I've been here for 2 days and had a chance to meet up with Ryan for dinner last night. The tea house at the Chinese gardens was really neat and I still could use some practise with my tea drinking form. It was surreal looking out over the reflection pond and pagoda and seeing of all things -- a skyscraper in the distance --Mount Hood - I can deal with --but a skyscraper ? I suppose that was the point -- forgetting that one was in the city at all.

I caught a glimpse of Mount Hood at sun rise and it was as beautiful as I could have imagined. The snow capped peaks pierced the dawn sky and the pink and red ribbon skies danced around her. Just awesome !

I leave for San Jose in a day and am hoping to make the most of my time here. Everything seems to open a bit later than I'm used to and I have yet to ride a street car. More exploring to do ....

My Humble List of Places to Check out in Portland
  1. Tea Chai Te (A neat tea shop on 23rd street with a good tea selection, good beats, killer masala chai, and wifi)
  2. Blue Moon Tavern (A tavern on 21st Avenue with a working hearth to warm up around - Thanks Ryan )

Curiousity is a good thing. When I say we are self actualizing the universe it is sort of like this ...

It is impossible to observe 'reality' without changing it. :) Our mind deals in these primitives we call 'ideas' and ideas are only a method to actualize the world around you -- those ideas are not the world around you -they are more like your mind's attempt to describe the world around you. Does that make sense ? :)

What I struggle with is -- If we are part of the universe and are trying to objectively (hehe) describe universe it is almost like saying that we are 'self actualizing' the universe. (Like painting a picture of the universe -except it happens to sort of look like a self portrait)

Did you ever think of someone and the phone rings and it is that person ?? Probably just a coincidence right ? I always wonder about that. Cheers ..

The world may bend for your mind -- that is alot like "it is impossible to observe reality without changing it .." :)

I don't think we can objectively explain the universe without somehow disengaging ourselves from said universe (we are the universe )
