Bleecker Street Blues

The weekend was not too eventful -but very nice. Indian Summer is upon us in the northeast and the weather is just grand. I spent saturday afternoon in Greenwich Village with some friends. We parked in Chelsea and walked down to the west village. An amazing synergy of pluralism, city life and progressive thought. I visited one of my favorite haunts from my old NYU days -- Washington Square Park and enjoyed the blues ensemble that was jamming on the EAST side of the park. It was nice to feel the autumn breeze and to hear the musicians play. The chess tables were buzzing with all sorts of characters and games and I was almost tempted to play a round for old times sakes. Next Time. We had lunch at Baluchis a tiny Indian restaurant on 6th Avenue across from "The Cage" on West Fourth Street. The food was excellent, but they seemed a bit short staffed for a Saturday afternoon.
I stopped into Bleecker Street Records and browsed their collection of import & out of print albums. I picked up a deftones album. I caught up on some reading and am hoping to do a bit more before the day is out.
Defending champion Roger Federer defeats Andre Agassi with a four-set win in Sunday's US Open final. The world number one retained his title 6-3 2-6 7-6 (7-1) 6-1 for the sixth Grand Slam title of his career.
